INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Jordan Yaldoo
WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO/WHO IS YOUR MENTOR?
One person that I look up to the most is my mom. My mom is one of the most hard working people I have ever seen. She is always working to do her best even if she isn't succeeding and continues to put herself on a higher standard. I aspire to be like her and that is why I work as hard as I do today.
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE CHALLENGED BY A JOB?
I would like to be challenged by a job by doing different tasks that I may not be familiar with or may be difficult for me at first. If I am asked to do something that I haven't done before, I have the motivation to start doing new things and motivating myself to work even harder than I did previously. I always like learning new things and improving myself for the better.
WHAT WOULD YOUR PREVIOUS BOSS/SUPERVISOR SAY YOUR STRONGEST POINT IS?
My boss/supervisor would say my strongest point is that I am a hard worker whether it is in school or in work. I am always trying to do my best whether I succeed or not. Being a hard worker does not mean that you are successful every time, but means that no matter what you will always try your hardest.
WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU HAVE THAT MAKEUP FOR YOUR LACK OF EXPERIENCE?
Because I haven't had experience working in this specific industry, it is inevitable that my lack of experience is present in this position. Although I have never worked for your company, being a hard worker and my ability to work with others allows me to learn more about this position and being flexible when doing so.
TELL ME ABOUT A TIME THAT YOU PARTICIPATED IN A TEAM, WHAT WAS YOUR ROLE?
When I participated in my high school's Reaching Higher program, I was always working with everyone in the group to improve ourselves and encourage everyone to make goals for themselves. My role in the program was to encourage others and be a listening for those who deserve to be heard. I also was working to improve myself to continue having a successful life personally.
WHAT THREE CHARACTER TRAITS WOULD YOUR FRIENDS USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?
Three character traits my friends would use to describe myself would be hard working, passionate, and unique. When it comes to being hard working, I have always had a strive to push myself to be better in no matter what I am doing whether it be school, work, hobbies, and more. Passion comes from the motivation I get from my mother because my mom spent years in college earning her degree in something she felt strongly for and has a steady career that I have always wanted. I feel that my friends would call me unique because I am always trying to bring different ideas to the table when it comes to anything in my life and use my own ideas within something to make something improve or to try something new.
WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOUR FORMER MANAGER/SUPERVISOR WOULD LIKE YOU TO IMPROVE ON?
Somethings my former manager would like me to improve about myself is learning it is okay to make mistakes, not take things to heart, and being easier on myself. Sometimes whether I am in school or working, I tend to be difficult on myself which can lead to be constantly wanting to be a perfectionist. I need to work on being okay with making mistakes and owning them.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE OR VALUE SUCCESS?
In my opinion, I feel that determining success comes from attitude. If you walk into an interview and say you are going to fail and not get the job then you will so do that. I know that it is important to have the hardworking attitude when it comes with wanting to be successful because it comes from attitude and positive energy.
TELL ME ABOUT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF.
An accomplishment that I am most proud of is being chosen by one of my teachers to participate in the Reaching Higher program at my school. To get into this program, a teacher or coach recommends a person to the staff of the program when they feel the person has leadership potential. The program goes into depth on teaching students how to make a difference and be a role model for not only others around them but for themselves.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE STRESS/PRESSURE?
When I am in a mental state of feeling pressure or stress, I tend to take in one thing at a time. For instance, when I work as a host at my town's Applebee's Bar and Grill, things can become stressful when the restaurant gets busy. When the restaurant gets busy, I mentally prepare myself by doing one thing at a time and communicating with my coworkers.
